This is the early access demo of our 8-bit style vertical SHMUP (very loosely) based on the writings of H.P. Lovecraft.

Take on the role of a green chibi-horror from deep under the sea. Someone has foolishly disturbed your slumber and you have awakened... CRANKY and ready to kick whomever is responsible for such an act of defiance!

Epic boss encounters and challenging difficulty will await those that take on the role of our cranky, yet lovable protagonist.

Coming soon to PC. Wishlist on Steam here.

Very fun mechanics, but the enemies/level are not.

My only complaint is the enemy design, and that the first level feels like it should be the level 5.

The basic enemies are too well-rounded. They have no weaknesses to exploit. A lot of the fun in games for me is finding a weak-point to attack: Having to overcome groups of enemies where the enemies play into each-others strengths and weaknesses, so you have to get creative to beat them. The basic enemies have no real weakness besides being killable, but you don't place them behind a creature that makes them harder to kill, you just make more of them.. It doesn't feel like there is anything as a player to change, you just have to play better. Tt's more of a technical challenge than a game.

Other stuff:

Force the player to jump

Basic crab enemy can shoot behind itself?

The jump bullet pickup range seems a little small

The game is incredibly good. The visuals, gameplay, and challenge are really interesting. However, I had a lot of issues with bugs, such as doors that wouldn't open and, as you can see in my gameplay, a game that got stuck on the continue screen. It's still worth the experience.

Hi, Thank you for playing.

Cranky Chibi Cthulhu loves to jump!

...even over what you would not normally jump over in a traditional shmup ;)

I love the vibe. Great game

Nice job! Congrats.

May I please ask for a downloadable build? Thank you very kindly in advance.

This absolutely kicked my butt, but I really dig the visuals and music.
